Back when I first got married, I was looking for some great recipes that I could adapt to whatever ingredients I had on hand. My husband is a great believer in “Create A Meals” where you basically just through a bunch of veg in a pan with some kind of protein and add it to rice or pasta. This is a good way to use up produce when there is a good sale, and can be a real lifesaver when you are cooking on a budget. This particular recipe I found online and have modified it to suit my needs. While many foods we make up our own names for (coming soon!), the original name for this stuck. As you will see, sometimes we don’t use exact measurements for the ingredients, so play around and decide what you like!

Feeds 4-7

3 small red and green bell peppers (or 2 large)

3 small onions (or 2 large)

1 container mushrooms (whole or sliced)

1 Package of Beer or Stadium Brats

1 jar spaghetti sauce

1 can tomato sauce

2 spoonfuls minced garlic

1 box farfalle or corkscrew pasta

Spices (we use Italian seasoning, oregano, basil, and chives)

Shredded Cheese or parmesan (to sprinkle on top)

–          Chop all vegetables (I like to use the food processor).

–          Slice brats and combine with vegetables in a pan or wok. Cook until veg is soft. Add garlic and seasonings.

–          Once everything seems fully cooked, add the spaghetti and tomato sauce. Mix well.

–          Cook pasta using the directions on box and drain.

–          Add veg to pasta and combine well.

–          Serve with shredded cheese or parmesan.
